Elizabeth Warren Would Be A Great Choice

In some quarters they are talking about Elizabeth Warren as being the VP pick for Biden. I think that would be a wonderful choice to make. It would certainly be the most democratic choice. There were two clear streams this primary season. Biden represents one. The other can be represented by Warren. She is a progressive who is clearly not a socialist. And she goes low when Trump goes low. She goes toe to toe. Politics is war by other means.

Picking Warren would be great to bring about party unity. And we can expect to see AOC back on the campaign trail with Warren. She will do for Warren this Fall what she did for the B man last Fall. Warren wanted AOC to do that for her last Fall, but then B man went ahead and had a heart attack. That tugged at AOC's heart. Besides, Bernie only popped up because Warren refused to run in 2016. Hillary was the Biden of 2016.

If Warren is on the ticket no lefty will be talking about if Biden went far enough for them or not. You get Warren, all such anxieties are soothed. Besides, this pandemic makes Bernie look like a Wall Street don.

Biden should pick Warren. Wait, the names even rhyme. I just noticed.

They both can retire and make room for AOC in 2028.

President Pelosi? Trending On Twitter

Dick Morris: Impeachment? Over What? Just to be sure, they are also piling on everything they can think of and have been seeking to dredge up through their congressional subpoenas, all packaged into impeachment resolutions. Trump’s tax returns, his foundation activities, his hotel rentals for public events, and everything else is now fair game and likely to be wrapped into impeachment resolutions. ...... Their actions are not the considered opinions of responsible lawmakers. They are the desperate attempts of incumbent congressmen to avoid losing primary battles against pro-impeachment insurgents. ......

The ghost of Joe Crowley, defeated for re-election by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, prowls the Democratic House cloakrooms and haunts its members.

They are pushing impeachment — on whatever grounds they can find — to avoid and win primary fights....... And I’m sorry, but if President Trump had picked up the phone and called Zelensky and said “I have some military aid that I am holding up from Ukraine and I want you to investigate the Bidens and their activity in your country. If you do that, I will release the aid,” I don’t believe an impeachable offense would have been committed...... In the phone call with Zelensky, Trump did not link aid to investigations, he hinted at it. Even had he said it explicitly, it would not be grounds for impeachment....... Voters who backed Democrats in 2018 elected a grand jury not a legislative chamber....... And, the process will doom Biden’s candidacy leaving only the un-electable Elizabeth Warren in its wake.

Star Power: AOC And Pelosi Compared

When it comes to wattage, AOC is like a sun. Nancy Pelosi is like one of Jupiter's moons. Nancy Pelosi has never been a future president. Enough said. Some people are bigger than the chamber they are in. That does not apply to Nancy Pelosi.

A newly elected first black President Of The United States had to tell Nancy Pelosi: "I am not a stupid man!" Pelosi must have exhibited racist attitudes. Liberals can be plenty racist. Trump is from New York, after all. From Queens too, the most diverse large county in America.

There never were immigration laws when the Europeans came over. Latin America is the new Europe. Build a statue, not a wall.

Nate Silver's Midsummer Night's Dream

I am in broad agreement with Nate Silver here. He is that data guy. Only I venture forth to predict Joe Biden is going to sink like a stone as soon as people start tuning in. I don't see him winning either Iowa or New Hampshire. And then it is downhill from there. Harris will swamp Biden in South Carolina, should he not have already dropped out.

Between Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris, I just don't know at this point. If Warren is the nominee, Kamala Harris will be the natural pick for VP. If Harris is the nominee, on the other hand, the reverse is not true. Warren perhaps will go on to become Majority Leader in the Senate. Harris might pick Pete. It will be a good Midwestern Rust Belt balance to the coastal highflies.

Harris is more muscular on gender than Obama ever was on race. I like her stand on pay equity. I like how she asks, which male body part is the government regulating? That little finger on your right?

The Year Long US Presidential Campaign

The year long US presidential campaign is not just about electing a man or woman for the Oval Office. That it is. But it is primarily about moving the conversation along on various issues. America is a democracy. The people have to want it before change can happen. And the conversation moves much faster during an election year than during regular congressional years. Except when there is a major event, the year long campaign is when the American people thrash it out. Eventually there is a winner, but everybody who wants to speak is heard along the way.

It is quite a spectacle. And for America being what is it, for good or ill the number one country right now, I think mostly for good, I'd compare the presidential election to World Cup Soccer. Well, not quite. World Cup is World Cup. But you know what I mean.

The handover of power to the most powerful political office on the planet is so peaceful, it is mind blowing.

You see colorful characters. But every candidate is trying to resonate with somebody, with this or that group. The talk is not in a vacuum.

There is a robust debate going on in the Democratic Party. The Republicans tend to be more obedient. They collect around a leader pretty fast. On the Republican side I can't think of one earth shaking idea that has been proposed. It is more about this vague feeling.

Bernie, on the other hand, is looking at some major proposals. And Hillary is a policy wonk. To Donald's credit though, he did challenge the Pope and George W Bush. The guy is a bull in a china shop.

Where we stand today, Israel is safer. Correct?

But there were people who were saying Obama is taking Israeli safety down the drain. It was an existential question. How could he?

My point being, sometimes you have to get unpopular with the very people you are trying to help. When you are doing the right thing, the popularity chart is not the right guide. Your compass might not be jiving with it.

So, just on this question, people who got it wrong, will they now take a second look at their prior position? Will they now admit Israel is now in a safer position?

A POTUS, any POTUS, stands with Israel, because America is all about democracy. So Obama's loyalty could not have been in doubt. Ends up he was also right.

Barack Obama: FDR, Lincoln And Washington

He pulled a FDR by preventing Great Depression II (which makes Bush Hoover) and through Obamacare. He now gets to pull a Lincoln by liberating black folks. If you have to live in fear for life, that is still slavery. The right to bear arms has to go. This slavery of the 21st century has to be abolished also through a constitutional amendment. You basically get the sentence deleted. That is a nationwide campaign. And you top it all off by pulling a George Washington. He need not be in office to do that. That could be his post-White House project. He could go on a world tour. He could be the first president of the world. There is no other way to pull Africa out of its permanent slump.

This guy Barack Obama is time travel.

Barak River

Indians were so moved Barack Obama visited them for their Republic Day, they named a river after him. And Modi took a lot of political heat in India for the expensive suit he wore to make Obama feel at home.

Barak River

Elders pass Bill to declare Barak river as National Waterway
to develop the Barak river stretch as country’s sixth National Waterway would particularly benefit Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh by facilitating cargo movement there.
