Laila Main Laila: Amazing Videography

This is amazing two and a half minutes of video. This song has been done so well from so many different angles.

Obviously this is the famous Qurbani song. Bollywood was "revealing" even back then. In fact Arab belly dancing goes back hundreds of years.

I chanced upon this video yesterday and watched it so many times. The day before that I watched the Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya video numerous times.

The song is beautifully done. Sunny Leone is an apt pick. The crowd reminded me of the Jumma Chumma song, but this actually is done better, because in the Jumma Chumma song the crowd is like wallpaper, Amitabh so dominates.

King Khan has managed to strike just the right balance. There is no mistaking who the song revolves around. But the crowd appears to be very much part of the action. Har Koi Chahe Mujhse part comes alive on the screen.

Sunny has done a fabulous job. I just watched her on the Kapil Sharma Show yesterday on YouTube.
Look at the camera work. In the very beginning when the video becomes a photograph but the music continues, it feels like you are on a slippery slope. And the sound of the gunshot feels so part of the song. King Khan makes total claim to the song those few seconds even while giving almost all screen time to Sunny whose secret to beauty is her confidence. She is indeed very beautiful.

Both Katrina Kaif and Sunny Leone have come to work in Mumbai from the west like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have gone west without leaving Mumbai.

Indian women are conquering the world. About time.

The dance choreography is mind boggling. It is a perfect blend of the song you hear, made more powerful because it is an old classic, and the graceful moves, powerful for being simple. But the magic is in the grace.

Modi's BHIM App Is Tectonic

PM Narendra Modi launches Aadhaar based mobile payment app called BHIM

This is the most monumental step India has taken to date over my entire lifetime.

India has done a trailblazing super job of taking the biometric ID to all Indians. This has to be done for every human.

India should similarly get every business venture in the country registered, no matter how small. Make it digital, easy, fast and announce no taxation for businesses up to a certain size in annual revenue. Perhaps no taxation upto a million rupees in profits. This registration will open the doors for credit. Small businesses can take loans and create jobs. This is the most important sector of the economy.

This shows he is decisive and a risk taker.

अमरिका १०० डॉलर का नोट इसी तरह वापस ले ले को दुनिया के सभी ड्रगलोर्ड समाप्त हो जायेंगे।

Priyanka Chopra, Racism, Sexism, America, India

Binge watching Quantico is on my to do list. I binge watched Kevin Spacey and Amitabh Bachchan, and it was a great experience. I also have binge watched the show 24. It is my impression Quantico is along the lines of 24. But Priyanka Chopra is all over the media. I have noticed for months now. She is on the cover of magazines. There are videos of her making appearances on American TV all over YouTube. She was the most googled after Leonardo DiCaprio at the last Oscars. That is a powerful metric. What you have to note there is that Priyanka met Leo while she is on the way up and Leo is on the way down. Dwayne Johnson is the top paid actor in Hollywood? Not for long if Priyanka has her way.

She is a first. No Hollywood actor has ever eased into Bollywood. No Bollywood actor has ever eased into Hollywood like she has. The world is her oyster. Pun intended. For her mother seems to suggest PC is all into oysters. There are pictures on her Instagram of her ordering oysters in many parts of the world.

What rankles though is the media treatment. The tablet that God handed over to Moses on the mountain was also meant for the media. Take note.

The glaring racism and sexism is so in your face. For example, there is one dumb white male, and two young black women, all into fat shaming PC. That is a pattern. You connect the dots and you see there is some Roger Ailes type fatso somewhere in the background pulling the strings. When you deliver the racist, sexist message through a black woman, then maybe it is not racist and sexist, that is the thinking.

Many working class Americans work two jobs. That is not lazy. An average American is fat. But that is not about people being lazy. The average American is fat for the same reason something as gigantic as the Pacific is choking with plastic. The American Big Pharma has managed to kill half the gut bacteria in American tummies. That is the top reason why the average American is fat. It is chaos.

Bollywood is not the Indian version of Hollywood any more than the thali is the Indian version of the hamburger.

The family in America is weak precisely because Americans do not worship Lord Rama, the first human incarnation of the Holy Father. Rama created the family, and established justice is above wealth, knowledge, power. Lord Krishna created the modern state and laid out the rules for use of force to uphold justice. Lord Jesus built the bridge to heaven, and created the person on earth, the person of the one person one vote democracy, the basic unit of the modern economy. India could not become a modern state and economy unless it opens up its heart to Jesus.

Done Right Demonetisation Will Prove Early Election

If the execution of the decision goes well it will be like Modi won the 2019 election before it was even held, with his opponents like Mamata and Kejri utterly vanquished.

It has been a big, bold move. It had to be done at some point if the Indian rupee was ever going to become a credible global currency, like the dollar, euro, yen.

12 lakh crores have been deposited into the banks. That is massive.

Gold is another major drag. And it is cultural. That is so much capital sucked out of the economy.

As for the anti corruption drive I am sure Modi knows this can only be the first step. Benaami property has to be one of his New Year resolutions.

T N Sheshan cleaned up elections in India. Modi is out to show corruption can be controlled across India.

Anti corruption moves are indispensable to robust economic growth rates. Done right this will catapult India to double digit growth rates early next decade.

The biggest concern of course is the cash crunch. I have noticed Ambani is giving three months free on his new data network. There ought to be a massive push for digital money. They do it in Kenya. It is called mPesa.

America should similarly recall the 100 dollar bill to empty the wallets of the druglords around the world.

Modi's Demonetisation: Differing Opinions

India's demonetisation: 'Modi didn't think of the poor'

In a strong editorial, the Economist said Modi's "perceived need for secrecy (to take cash-hoarders by surprise) fed into the innate sense he has of his own infallibility and his misplaced faith in his technocratic skills."

Kaushik Basu, a former chief economist at the World Bank, said in an op-ed in the New York Times that demonetisation was likely to cause the economy to nosedive. "Demonetization may have been well-intentioned, but it was a major mistake," Basu wrote. "The government should reverse it."

Assessing the impact of demonetisation four weeks later, TN Ninan, the editor of the Business Standard, wrote that Modi's move "at this stage looks like a bad idea, badly executed on the basis of some half-baked notions."
