America has an ageing population. Programs like Social Security is that the young workers pay, the old retirees take out. But if the ranks of the old are swelling and that of the young are shrinking, of course you end up with structural deficits.
The solution is to open up the flood gates a little and encourage young people from everywhere to show up. They work, they pay taxes, some of that money goes to boost up the entitlement programs. That is a more sound strategy than simply cutting benefits.
